Filler: "Tree of Life" Quilt 2004

This "Tree of Life" Quilt I made in 2004 for my cousin Sarah B. (Yes I know another Sarah...the name is popular in my family. It's been used for 7 generations.)

This quilt was I believe a Bucilla Pattern that I hand embroidered  on white fabric. I hand quilted it and hand bound it as well. No machine was used to make this quilt. I finished stitching this an hour before everyone woke up on Christmas morning. The quilt is a lap size quilt That was hung on the wall for a while.

I never took a photo, so I had to send a request to my Aunt Nancy to shoot one for me.

Another Filler: Nana's Cross Stitch Cardinal Lap Afghan 2004

For Christmas 2004, I decided to make a cross stitched afghan for my grandmother. She loves birds and cardinals, as do I, so I found a cute pattern to use. I bought a pre-made Bucilla afghan and stitched to versions of the cardinals and pine cones on every other square. I think it turned out well.

Filler: My First Quilt: Young Adult literature Final Project "Survival Quilt" 1999

 This is another filler blog.

My first quilt I ever made ended up being a queen size quilt.

Each square was a picture of an item or idea from the young adult literature book I read that helped the main character survive. I called it my "Survival  Quilt". This is why the dominant color is black.

I added a book plate to each square. I read over 36 books to make this quilt and a few pillows to match. Obviously, I got a 4.0 in this college course.

My favorite squares were the bike and the pig.

One of my pillows.

Filler:Brian's Quilt "Denim and Poker" Christmas Gift 2007

Ok...it's been a

while since I've posted. I've been doing home renovation projects and haven't finished yet. In the meantime, I thought I might pull out a few old craft or sewing projects that I finished.

This quilt I made for my cousin... Brian. I was trying to figure out a guy's quilt theme and decided denim and poker fabric would work. Brian likes playing games.

This particular project is a quilt is one I made out of denim and poker fabrics. I used a circle pattern I made to cut out the fabric. I cut 144 denim and 144 poker fabric pieces. I used a red thread to scallop stitch it all together.

I started stitching 4 of them together. The back side of the denim to the back side of the colored fabric.  I stitched the circles together by stitching 2 circles together, folding down the overlap and stitching that in place. I then layed them out to organize all my 4 patch squares. and to organize the color scheme a little.

I then had 6 strips to connect together.
