Drawing: Shroomy

My science teacher, Mrs. Theobald, inspired me to draw this. One day during class (in the kingdom Plantae) someone blurted out a witty comment and got the response "It's not like mushrooms grow legs and walk away." After that, during study hall (right after science), I started drawing a mushroom (I was going to draw limbs and a face but fortunately the bell rang for art).

Friendship Bears Cross Stitch

I started this January 6th and finished it today. It is a kit from Bucilla entitled, Friendship Bears. It is stitched on a 14 count Antique White Aida cloth. It should be framed with a 16" x 10" frame or 20" x 14" if matted. I again will decide the mat and frame issue when I get around to it. I have the mat board, but it is too cold in the garage to get it and cut it to size.

The back side!

This pattern is actually a repeat for me. I completed this kit for my Godmother, Pam, when I was a teenager. She was and is NUTS about bears. I bought 2 kits at the time as I liked it so much and am only now getting around to completing it.

Drawing: Les Snail

I have no idea why I was inspired to draw this, but one day during study hall (which happened to be right before art) I opened my sketch book (which I always carry) and after sitting there for ten minutes drew this.

Peacock Feather Box-- My First Project

Tom sent Ashlin a Peacock Feather from Florida and we wanted to do something to save it with the story and protect it from our kittens, so we decided to make a memory box for the feather. Instead of making the box, I found one at Michael's at a super price. Couldn't make it for the price!!! I also found some really pretty papers as well as a cute charm at  Michael's.
I mounted the papers in the box and used my Stampin' Up Border Punch and Markers to make a journal to copy the story Tom had sent with the feather.
This is the story:

Hibiscus Cross Stitch

I started this pattern just before the new year and finished it today. It is a Bucilla pattern entitled, Hibiscus. It is stitched on 14 Count Aida cloth. It should be framed 9" x 12" without the mat and 13" x 16" with a mat. Still deciding which I will do.

The Back
This is one of those patterns I bought many years ago and never got around to completing. I'm determined to work on a few in the next couple of months.

Favorite Quilt Squares Cross Stitch

This pattern, Favorite Quilt Squares, was designed by Angie Newton and copyrighted by Canterbury Designs, Inc. in 1995. I finished stitching it in 2011, but have yet to frame it. It is stitched on #28 Ivory Brittany. This is not a typical Aida fabric and much more difficult to stitch. It recommends  using a 10" x 12.5" Frame. I haven't decided if I will add a mat or not. The photos are a little wavy as it is not mounted and I had it lying on the bed.

It is supposed to be vertical, but I kind of like the horizontal look.

Hummingbirds & Hibiscus Cross Stitch

This little pattern is a Dimensions Pattern Kit called Hummingbirds & Hibiscus. It is 10" x 10" framed without a mat and 14" x 14" framed with a mat. I have yet to find the perfect frame, but will do so soon. I actually stitched this in 2010 I think, but wanted to add it as I found it in a box of materials I wanted to work on. I love hummingbirds. This is one of the first full samplers I've completed on 14 Count Black Aida cloth.

Ring Pillow

Ring Pillow I stitched a while ago, but not yet assembled. The fabric was given to me by someone cleaning out their stash. I liked this little rose pattern I found, so stitched it.
