Puppy and Kitten play with Knitting

Funny info: I started this a couple years ago and lost it. Before Christmas I was doing a little spring cleaning and found it behind the dresser. No clue how it got there. So... I finished it.

This little embroidery artwork portrays a puppy and kitten entangled in someones yarn knitting project. It looks like an adorable golden retriever puppy and a fluffy white kitten. It is surrounded by a pink and blue border containing what looks to be pink tulips. The animals are playing on what appears to be knitted sampler squares.

This is a Bucilla stamped cross stitch pattern entitled "Playful Pals." The original design was by Linda Gillum." It was stitched using cotton thread on printed white sailcloth fabric. It has been washed and ironed.

It will fit in a 16"x8" frame without a mat or in a 20"x12" frame with a mat.

Knit Pot Holders/ Dish Clothes-- Style 2

I found this pattern at: http://www.ravelry.com  This site has many knit and crochet patterns for free as well as for sale!

Materials: 1 Ball Peaches & Creme Cotton Yarn, Size 4.5 mm knitting needles (I used size 6.)
Directions:
Step 1: Cast on 42 stitches (or a multiple of 18 plus 6)
Step 2: Knit 3 rows of garter stitch for the border
Step 3:
               Row 4: Knit
               Row 5: Knit 3, Pearl to last 3 stitches, Knit 3
               Row 6: Knit 3, [Knit 2 Together (3 Times), Yorn Over and Knit 1 (6 Times)] Repeat these 2 steps until the final 3 stitches, Knit 3
               Row 7: Knit entire Row (It was suggested to Pearl this row, so I did)
Step 4: Repeat Rows 4-7 until it is the desired length.
Step 5: Knit 3 rows of garter stitch to make the bottom border.
Step 6: Cast off and darn in ends.

Knit Pot Holders/ Dish Clothes-- Style 1

Patty got me into making these simple potholders / or dish clothes if you prefer. They are very easy to make! I even taught my Junior Girl Scouts how to make them.

Directions: Use Cotton Yarn!! I used Peaches & Creme Brand from Walmart. I skein makes about 1 and 1/2 potholders/dish clothes.

Use US Size 6 or 8 Knitting Needles.

Step 1: Cast on 5 stitches
Step 2: Knit 5
Step 3: Knit 2, Yarn Over, Knit to end of Row
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 until you have 45 stitches on the needle
Step 5: Knit 2, Knit 2 Together, Yarn Over, Knit 2 Together, Knit to end.
Step 6: Repeat until 5 stitches remain on needle
Step 7: Knit 2, Knit 2 Together, Yarn Over, Knit 1
Step 8: Cast Off and finish ends of yarn.
