Baby Doll Quilts

For Christmas, I refinished the Cradle and made a Crib for Emmah. I loved the little quilt so much, that I decided to make a bunch more to add to my Etsy site for sale. Here are the results:

They fit a traditional doll bed or cradle. I took pictures with my daughter's American Girl Doll, Felicity. She has the beds for her American Girl Dolls, but this little bed I used doesn't have the posters or top on it, so it was easier to photograph with. Besides...it reminds me of the bed I had that was my grandfather's bed when he was a boy.

Baby Doll Crib Quilt, Doll Cradle Quilt, in the Jelly Roll Style with a Flannel Back and wrapped Flannel Binding. Quilts are machine embroidered. Each Baby Doll Quilt is made with a matching flannel pillow. These quilts measure approximately 12" wide and 20" tall. They vary slightly in size as they are all handmade.

If you don't know what a Jelly Roll is, it is a roll of 2.5 inch strips of various patterned fabrics. I stitched the Jelly Rolls together and washed them. I also pre-washed the flannel fabric for the quilts. Flannel shrinks horribly, so I don't use it until it is washed.

I machine stitched the binding on the quilt and machine embroidered the quilt as well. Each Baby Doll quilt fits an 18 inch doll bed or cradle. My Mother's Girl Scout Mementos

For Christmas, Ashlin and I swiped my mother's Girl Scout mementos. WE found 2 - 12"x12" Scrapbook frames (thanks to Megan). I had Girls Scout Scrapbook Materials in my very large stash, so we sat down and had some fun! WE got all her patches and pins in the two frames with a few added embellishments.

Megan's Jewelry Cabinet

A year ago, we found a beautiful antique maple mirror at an Antique shop.  I thought it would be a beautiful jewelry cabinet for Megan.  Tom agreed.

We got some Maple lumber from a place on the reservation and Tom planed it down. Tom built a box for it and put a natural clear stain on it to enhance the natural  maple wood. I lined the back with a red velvety fabric and added the brass hooks and jewelry hangers. I drilled and screwed in 39 hooks for necklaces, 10 hooks for bracelets and 7 brass rods for Earrings. Tom assembled it using a sturdy piano hinge and a lock.

After Christmas, he hung it on the wall on top of fern strips screwed into the studs as it is such a heavy piece and Megan immediately started filling it.

More Memory/Picture Boards made for Christmas

I made 4 other Memory/ Picture Boards for Christmas. I only have pictures of 2 of them as I finished 2 in the middle of the night Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.

I had a little fabric left over from the guitar I made for Etsy, so I made a memory board for Ashlin's room. I made a hunting camo board for Morghan, a Giraffe Board for Emmah, and a Teal Blue and Pink geometric Circle board for Mckayla. Tomorrow I need to make a music fabric themed board for someone else.

I try to find scraps of boards such as Luann, plywood, or siding that are left over. I chose fabrics each person would like and paired them with matching ribbon and buttons. From there, I measured and drilled holes for my needle to go through when attaching the buttons. I found sanding it down quickly is also a necessity.  I added the batting and fabric and stapled the fabric to the back. I cut ribbon to crisscross the front, chose buttons to sew on and used some black cord to stitch the buttons to the board. Then, I stapled the ribbon the the back. Add a hanging hook and ...Voila! Finis!
