Kimmi's Cloaks

Kimmi Sue asked me to make a couple costumes for her photography studio: Kindred Spirits Photography (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kindred-Spirits-Photography/169531289812320). She wanted one long red and one shorter white cloak that she could use in her fantasy portraits. My model does not like her face being seen, so she grabbed a mask.

This is what I did:

White:  Made from Pattern 0891, Simplicity Sew Simple Walmart Exclusive Pattern.
This Pattern has a curved hood that has darts along the sides to give it dimension. It is a medium size and length. I used a simple hook and eye for closure so any brooch or pin could decorate it. The seems are all reinforced, so it will be strong and last for a long time.

Red: Made from Simplicity Pattern 9887.
This pattern has yoke shoulders which allow for extra trim to be added if the creator wants. (Maybe on the next one.) The hood is pointed and the length is long. This was the large size pattern. This cloak has a simple hook and loop closure as well so the wearer can change the style by adding a brooch or pin they like.

Ashlin's Pageant Costume - Mary

Ashlin's Pageant Costume - Mary

A few days before Christmas I made Ashlin a new costume for the Christmas Pageant. She was Mary this year. Most of the costumes I made 5 or so years ago. Needless to say..the kids have grown quite a bit.

I found 5 yards of fabric at Walmart for less than $30. I cut out the pattern and stitched it together: Tunic and Belt. I had a scarf my mother had given me last year after her Caribbean Cruise that worked perfectly for her veil.
